Mail items are automatically fed into FC after the mail has been loaded onto Feeder Module. Non-machinable items are culled manually prior to loading. Feeder Module also checks mail size by measuring dimensions, thickness and stiffness. Mail items considered as non-machinable are automatically rejected.

Postage on each mail item is detected in Scanner Module, and then cancelled in the Cancelling Module. Facing of mail items is performed according to the results of postage detection.

Mail items are sorted into stackers in accordance with the categorization preferred by the customer.

Statistical and maintenance information of FC operation are gathered and managed by of the System Console. Interfacing between the Post Office Computer and FC can also be carried out via this System Console.
